La Alegria de Hoy
This studio project took place in Fall 2023, my second year in my master's in architecture. We were assigned to remake the facade of one of the buildings in La Plaza Vieja in Havana, Cuba. I chose the building called Camera Obscura in the square. This project was very special to me because my family's cultural heritage is Cuban, so finding a way to improve a run-down building in a place where my parents grew up made me more connected to the project. I named my redesign of the interior and facade, this project in general, as La Alegria de Hoy, which translates to the Joy of Today. Cubans are very kind and lively people with lots of passion. They deserve a place where they can gather, where there can be music performances and indulge in art exhibitions but overall have a place where they can drink pure expresso and gossip together. A place where they can create a strong community together.

Mapping out where you can buy pure coffee usually reserved for tourists and where to buy diluted coffee usually just for Cuban residents.

Collaging of textures and colors that interest me for my project to remake the facade of the Camera Obscura.
